GMCS commented on Yotpo - Am I over-reacting?

Hello all.

Thank you for your responses, as RHT said, it it nice to see that you are monitoring and addressing these things.

My issue isn't so much is they are annoyed by the emails or not, although that is obviously a concern. My issue is this: If they have asked not to be contacted, and they are contacted, am I, or are you on my behalf, violating CAN-SPAM laws? If I am, then I could face a $16,000 fine per email.

From what I understand the law is a matter of "marketing vs. transactional" emails. The fact that the email is coming from a 3rd party might also circumvent the law. I could be totally off on this law, and its subject to interpretation I'm sure, but isn't the best solution to simply have the Yotpo app recognize whether or not the customer agrees to marketing?

I mean.... I'm asking them if they want to be contacted.... Then I'm storing the answer in my customer database..... And then I'm ignoring it.

Does that not seem kind of strange?
