A new update is available that includes the following improvements:

  • Import/Export of translations (PO/MO, CSV, XLIFF, JSON)
  • Support for the Currency Switcher (Select which currency should be pre-selected for a specific language)

The import/export feature currently supports collections, products, themes, links, blogs, blog posts and pages.

Here is why and how that feature greatly improves the translation experience:

By default langify does not exclude any duplicated content. That is, if you have the same content showing up in multiple places, you have to translate that content multiple times when using the langify interface.

When exporting your content, langify will export duplicated content only once and therefore you have to to translate that content only once when translating your export using third party tools like Office, POEdit, etc.

When your exported content has been translated, you can import that translations for a specific language.

Finally, if there is duplicated content that has to be translated based on its context (after the import), you can still do that using the langify interface.

In short, importing/exporting your content allows you to:

  • quickly translate your content using third party apps ((Open) Office, POEdit, Virtaal, etc.)
  • translate your content by professional translation services without having them to use langify
  • creating a backup of your existing translations

Here is a screenshot of a langify export and a .po file of that export that I've loaded into POEdit (translating from English into German):

Hope you like it as much as I do :)

P.S.: The next update (SEO) will finally allow you to translate the meta data of your products and pages (page title and page description)
