We use Shopify’s “Shopify Payments” as our payment gateway for orders placed on our Shopify website. Shopify Payments batches payouts and deposits the net amount in a single payment to our bank a day or so after the funds have been received. The net amount is the amount after Shopify Payments deducts their transaction fee. For each of the batched payouts their is a that report lists the Transaction date, Order number, the gross Amount, the transaction Fee, and the Net amount. (The Shopify website has a link to these payouts in the Dashboard.)
We download these payments from our Bank to Quickbooks On Line (QBO) and then try to Match to the various customer transactions that are included in the batch to an amount that appears in QBO. Because the Sync Apps we have tried only pick up the Gross amount, i.e. the amount the customer pays us before the transaction fee, we are unable to match this order as we would do, for example, at PayPay payment where they pay us the net amount for each order.
Shopify encourages users to use the Shopify Payments gateway and charges a fee on every transaction if you do not. We have no objections to Shopify Payments by Strip, but we need a way to properly record these transactions in our accounting system, QBO.
