To briefly address your question around digital services though, there are a few things you want to avoid.
- Brand New Emails, or emails that have no past order history and no social media links.
- Emails coming from highly risky domains such as hushmail, qq or generaric ones like mail.com/engineer.com/accountant.com. The reason is that I could have mark.bahl (or a variant like mark or mbahl) at gmail.com for example, but it is unlikely that I would have markbahl@qq.com or mark@hushmail.com. Fraudsters will steal a credit card number, put in the correct address so AVS passses but insert a bad email they just made to steal from you.
- Watch out for any order where the IP doesn't match the country where the credit card was issued.
- IP's or Emails that place multiple orders with you. Once you accept one order from a fraudster, they will try to hammer you with 100 more. Once you see the 3rd or 4th order in a short time period from the same credit card/ip/phone number/email/etc.., I would at a minimum place the orders on hold or cancel them. This type of buying beheavour is outside the norm and typically very suspect.
In regards to PayPal, Signifyd can help work with you to find what PayPal orders to accept and what look possibly fraudulent due to account takeover or other issues.
