The files are not just stored on a single hard drive. Depending on where the end user is, the files are often pushed locally to them using Amazon's Cloud Front feature. It's not really comparable to downloading the files from an old fashioned web server. There is more than one copy of the data to draw from, so download speeds can reach 25 to 50 mbps if the end user's connection allows it. Speed is not the problem, a more convienient and lower cost option is what we're looking for.
