Scott,
Your shop still has the setting as "Enable product identifiers"
Even if you disable, as I said, the app still sends the non-empty values of Barcode, and Google actually validates that the value you place in there is a Barcode (UPN, EAN, ISBN etc). So if you put something in the barcode field, it must be valid, otherwise just leave it blank.
As for the collection, I wrote the best method in my last response: add a tag to the products that you do not wish to currently publish, and make a smart collection that excludes products with that tag.
