Perhaps you'd prefer something like Powr form builder either- https://apps.shopify.com/powr-form-builder? It looks pretty handy and easy to use, and will let you set your own fields!
If you wanted to you could always manually update the stock inventory on the backend of your admin when you use the materials using the inventory tab in the product section- https://docs.shopify.com/manual/your-store/products/track-inventory
There are lots of inventory apps that can be used with Shopify, though I think you don't need them- https://apps.shopify.com/categories/inventory
There is an app called Craftybase in the app store, which sounds like the one you were chatting about- https://apps.shopify.com/craftybase -was this what you meant? As its in Beta, there is a note that says "This app is in beta – it may be incomplete and still be undergoing final testing. It should be used at your own risk". It might be worth reaching out to the app developer to see what they can do for you, by clicking Get support in the app store!
