SpurIT commented on App to allow for faster listing of products?

Hey Gareth,

Have you tried adding new products by importing them via CSV from "Products" section?

Shopify Products Import

It's allows you to make a template and upload a big list of products.

In case you need to manage & schedule your products variants we suggest you to try our Bulk Variants Editor app. Edit all variants for all required products on one page, which will save a lot of your time.

Unless there's an option in the app to disable the script on the Order Status (thankyou) page there's not much you can do here. Talk to the app dev and see what options they have for not having the popup shown on that page.

I'd assume the app stores a cookie on the main domain when the popup is closed but on standard accounts the checkout domain is different (so the cookie won't be found).

Anyone else tired of the App review system? by GeorgeP

Hi Guys,

I'm keen to get other app owners opinion on the review system.  We're an app of over 5 years and love Shopify and the ecosystem they've created.  But we're tired as hell of the review system - it's frustrating to deal with and unfair on owners who are busting a gut to provide a great experience for Shopify customers.  We've had over 80 5* reviews and only had 4 that are 4* or less, so in many ways we've done well out of it.  But I still think it's fundamentally flawed. My main issues revolve around not being able to respond to a review.  Specifically:

  • Unqualified reviews - we've had somebody open a Shopify store, open an account on our app, leave a bad review and close both down within a few minues.  I can't see why this is a valid review
  • Incorrect information - a customer leaves a review stating fact X that you're app doesn't do.  You then get other customers leave your app in a trial because they read it didn't do X and they wanted that.  When in fact your app does do X
  • Blackmail - this happened recently which lead to this post.  A customer decided to leave our app after having used it for several years and then demanded his last months money back even though he used the app that month.  He then threatened a 1* review unless we refunded him.  We don't respond to blackmail and he left a 1* review.  Hardly fair
  • Leave a review before even attempting to contact support - store owners leaving a review with a "stream of consciousness" as they use the app.  Most of which are wrong or misunderstood.  But they haven't even tried to contact support
  • Outdated review - customer writes something correct at the time, you contact them several months later to say feature X has now been added.  They don't update their review

In these cases you can't correct the review or comment on it.  So you have to suck it up.  And then live with that as your latest review until somebody leaves a new one which obviously effects your conversion.  Shopify's official guidelines recommend contacting a store owner to remedy the situation (https://help.shopify.com/api/publishing-your-app/listing-in-the-app-store/managing-app-reviews) but this completely disregards the fact the store owner may no longer be a Shopify customer, or even respond to your email.  And they don't really have any interest in correcting a review anyway.  In fact in all four cases we've had one reply (25%) - not exactly a practical solution then. Even TripAdvisor, the dregs of internet reviews, allows hotel owners to respond to reviews.

Personally I think the changes required are pretty simple:

  • Don't let store owners leave a review until they've used your app for a period of time/paid an invoice/gone through your trial period/some other metric to determine they're at least qualified to leave a review
  • Allow store owners to leave a comment on each review

There's probably better solutions but this is what I've come up with 5 minutes thought.

I'm sure Shopify want to paint a rosy picture of the app store but is frustrating as hell for those of us that are busting a gut to create apps for their ecosystem, working tirelessly to keep their customers happy only to be rewarded with unreasonable reviews.

As such I'm really interested on other app owners opinion.  Is it just us?  Or is this something many others feel too?  Has anybody else contact Shopify about it and had more success?  I've tried talking to our partner manager about it several times but get the extermely mature response of not replying to our emails when I ask if they think it's fair that this can happen.

In the Barcode Printer app when I click on "Design Barcode Template" a window pops up with that title that is completely blank and at the bottom it has buttons that say "cancel" or "save barcode template". I'm on Google Chrome.

Wholesale Price on Search Results Page (Findify and Wholesale Prices by Supple) by Jsprakes

Good morning forum members!

I am currently using an app called Wholesale Prices by Supple, which seems to be working great, except I am also trying to use the app Findify.

The problem I seem to be having is, where as the price shows correctly for each user when logged in on the product page, when they use the search bar linked to findify, the prices are showing at the full web price. Is there a way that I could implement it so findify show the price for the wholesaler when they are logged in? Much like it does on the product page?

I have been through every line of code, and can't figure a way to work it - however I may be missing something!

I have been in touch with Findify, and they replied saying its possible, but they aren't currently developing the app to work with other apps (understandably as this would take a lifetime of work!)

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks,

Josh

Hey Josh,

This post doesn't relate to the Shopify Script Editor App so I'd assume you've posted this in the wrong forum section. You'll get better responses if you post in a related section so I'm going to move your post elsewhere (why).

Our customers love the Messenger app from Beeketing. On every page, easy and trusted because it is Messenger. The added benefit is when customers sellect that option for communicatino they get order info tracking and delivery on Messenger. Great followup and customer service opportunities. Hope that helps.

Need a product review app that isn't attached to sold out items! by Katherine Ginman

We currently use the produtc review app from Shopify which is great but as our items are often one-offs and handmade the product reviews are wasted when the item is sold out.  Is there an app where I can place the product reviews together somehow? The only option I can thiink of is to create a page dedicated to it.  It would be nice to have some sort of pop up or something showing these past reviews without looking tacky?  Thanks Kathie

Hi,

So, Shopify just updated the app, right after my post, and it's now under Schema.org, which should fix the issue.

Thanks for breaking our stuff and not answering my message that has, obviously triggered your response/update, Shopify !

It also reset the translation to English on all our websites by the way...

Hi,

Good to see Shopify Reviews made the move to schema.org, like Judge.me did 2 weeks ago.

For those using Shopify Reviews who also want to add JSON-LD snippets, or who want to connect their JSON-LD review snippets to their product snippets, this guide can be helpful: help.judge.me/knowledge_base/topics/automatic-rich-snippets

The guide is written for shops using the Judge.me Product Reviews app, but it's valid for all shops who want to apply schema.org/AggregateRating snippets in both microdata and JSON-LD form of course.

Booking System for Mobile Spa by Vittal Anand

Hi all,

I have been using shopify for the past 6 months for my online store. I am looking for a solution for bookings. We want to expand and do on site facial care.

We need a booking system that the potential customers can make a booking from, beauty therapists have a dashboard, individual beauty therapists should be able to accept the booking (first therapist to accept the booking gets the job), therapists have a dashboard to track their upcoming bookings.

Please advice for any plug in which I can add to my site that can facilitate this.

Thank you!

Hi Vittal!

Seán here from Shopify :)

I've had a look into some options here, and your best bet would be to you an app called BookThatApp for arranging appointments on-site with beauty therapists. The app allows customers to select a date for the service and adds it to a calendar so you can keep track of it - as well as email the customer to confirm the booking.

The app has a free tier for you to try out its features for 10 products/bookings, after which costs $19.95 / month. The app also comes fully supported by its developers, who you can get in touch with directly by selecting the Get Support button on the app's page.

Hope this helps!

All the best,

I've had a look here and found the following apps that allow customers to book appointments:

Each of these apps come fully supported by the developers, who you can get in touch with by selecting the Get Support button on their pages in the App Store :)

Hope this helps!

Hi Laura!

Seán here from Shopify :)

I've checked this out for you here, and I've come across an app you can use called Contact Form by POWr.io. It allows you to set up a very customisable contact form for your site, and set up email notifications for whenever a customer submits a form. It's also free, and comes fully supported by the app developers.

Hope this helps :)

All the best,

I need to set rules for check out. For example, cannot check out with a certain item until you add another item to the cart. Thank you!

Hey there!

My name is Aaron, I'm a guru here at Shopify!

No problem!  It sounds like what you're trying to put into effect are product bundles.  We've got quite a few apps that can help with that over in our app store, but specifically I might recommend looking into Product Bundles by Bold - this should allow you to set up that function!

Hope that's helped!  Please feel free to give us a call or start a live chat at any time, we're open 24/7 for your convenience and always happy to assist!

Cheers,

Aaron | Shopify Guru

Thanks Aaron! I contacted Bold and they said they do not offer anything that would allow me to set this rule at check out unfortunately.
